PRIMARY THERAPIST (LPC, APC, LMSW, LCSW)

Saint Mary’s Behavioral Health Center is seeking a compassionate and clinically skilled Primary Therapist to join its adolescent residential treatment program. This role focuses on supporting youth ages 11–17 facing complex behavioral and mental health challenges in a structured, therapeutic environment.

About the Role
The Primary Therapist will manage a caseload of adolescents in 3–6 month treatment programs, providing individual, group, and family therapy while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team.
Clients may present with:
• Self-harm behaviors
• Suicidal ideation
• Trauma-related disorders
• Depression and anxiety
• Mood instability
• Aggression and behavioral dysregulation
• Substance use disorders
Responsibilities
Clinical Services
• Provide individual, group, and family therapy
• Conduct assessments and intake evaluations
• Develop and update individualized treatment plans
• Monitor client progress and adjust interventions
• Facilitate therapeutic and psychoeducational groups
Crisis Management
• Provide crisis intervention and stabilization
• Assess and manage risk related to self-harm and behavioral escalation
• Implement safety interventions and document appropriately
Collaboration & Communication
• Work closely with psychiatrists, nurses, and behavioral health staff
• Participate in treatment team meetings and case reviews
• Communicate key clinical updates to leadership
Documentation & Compliance
• Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation
• Ensure compliance with regulatory and program standards
Program Engagement
• Lead therapeutic programming (including evening sessions)
• Contribute to a positive and structured treatment environment
Requirements
• Active Georgia licensure or certification:
• Minimum 1 year of experience with high-acuity mental health clients
• Experience with individual, group, and family therapy
• Strong clinical assessment and crisis management skills
Preferred
• 3–5 years of behavioral health or substance use experience
• Experience in adolescent residential or inpatient settings
• Familiarity with trauma-informed care, DBT, CBT, or family systems therapy
• CPI and CPR/First Aid certification (training available if needed)
